Board Meeting Recap – May 26
The Miracle Workers Alliance (MWA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to community development and support, held a productive Board of Directors meeting via Discord’s eBoard Room. The meeting, called to order by President Korey G. Miracle at 6:03 p.m. EST, saw active participation from board members and guests as the organization continues its mission-driven activities.
Board Attendance and Key Decisions
The meeting affirmed a quorum with board members Faith Adams, Samantha Boyce, and Subreina Davis present. Jordan Anderson had an excused absence. The board welcomed Hailey, a nominee for a board vacancy, as a guest.
Minutes and Agenda Approvals
The board reviewed and unanimously approved amendments to the minutes from the April 28, 2024, and March 16, 2024, meetings. Key amendments included the resignation of Brendan Clements and details of a special meeting regarding the removal of a former board member. The meeting agenda was also approved without objections.
Reports
Executive Report
President Korey G. Miracle provided an update on the nonprofit’s fundraising progress:
- Fundraising via Twitch: The Twitch channels—HallowBreen, Subreina24, and KoreyMiracle—were actively raising funds for 501(c)(3) status. Notably, KoreyMiracle’s channel exceeded its $140 goal, raising $150, which means Korey will soon paint his fingernails neon green as promised for mental health awareness.
- Special Thanks: The organization expressed gratitude to donors Subreina Davis, Wendy Gave, Sinsnight, and HaileyBailey.
- Recruitment and Handbooks: The board is actively seeking a board secretary. Interested individuals can contact Korey directly or apply via email at apply@miracleworkersalliance.org. Additionally, the development of a Discord staff handbook and a fundraising department handbook is underway.
- Role Updates: Subreina Davis is now the Chief Development Officer, and a candidate has shown interest in the Events and Community Outreach Coordinator role.
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer Faith D. Adams reported that $359.83 has been raised towards the nonprofit’s IRS filing fee, leaving $240.17 needed. Donations can be made via https://www.linktr.ee/miracleworkersalliance.
Social Media Update
Social Media Manager Samantha Boyce highlighted steady analytics, with TikTok showing significant growth. Adjustments will be made to optimize posting frequency on Instagram and TikTok.
New Business
Several key items were discussed:
- Terry Bennett’s Resignation: The board acknowledged Terry Bennett’s resignation, effective May 4, 2024.
- Board Vacancies: The urgency of filling two board positions was discussed, with recruitment efforts ongoing. Final decisions will be made in the next meeting.
- Gaming Events: Plans for a Fall Guys event to raise funds were discussed. A special meeting on June 2, 2024, will finalize the event details.
- Gaming Servers: A discussion on potential donations for a Minecraft realm took place, with considerations for waiting until 501(c)(3) status is achieved for tax purposes.
- Board Activities Day: A proposal to host a board activities day in June was approved, with details to be revisited on June 2.
Open Forum
Hailey introduced herself and shared her interest in advocating for mental health within MWA. The board also discussed potential collaborations with companies known to members, contingent on achieving 501(c)(3) status.
